TruckWatch launches new crime reduction initiatives

The Yorkshire and Humber TruckWatch is pleased to announce the launch of two new crime reduction initiatives aimed at reducing freight crime.

The ‘LOCK IT or LOSE IT’ key fob is aimed at increasing driver’s awareness of the danger of leaving vehicles insecure whilst unattended. It is reported that over 50% of all commercial vehicle theft is due to keys being left in the ignition. An unacceptably high number of vehicles and loads are being stolen whilst they are left insecure, whether this is in the operator’s yard or on the road.

The TruckWatch member laminate sticker is designed for the backs of wagons and trailers. These will act as a deterrent to any criminal as it will give out the message that if they attempt to steal the vehicle or its load, they are more likely to be identified and caught. It will also serve to raise awareness of the TruckWatch scheme amongst operators.

Both of these crime reduction initiatives are available to TruckWatch members and any one requiring them should contact John McEwan on 0114 275 8688 or info@truckwatch.org.
